Operative behandlinger
Derfor anbefales det, at du læser om det indgreb, du skal have foretaget, og at du kontakter klinikken, hvis der er forhold, du gerne vil have forklaret yderligere.
Surgical tooth extraction
An operative tooth extraction is performed if the tooth could not be removed at the first attempt at simple tooth extraction , or if there are still broken roots left to be removed.
If the tooth is very damaged and root canal-treated , an operative tooth extraction is usually performed immediately.
If you try a simple tooth extraction, there is a risk that the tooth will break or crack, which makes it more difficult to remove it.
Take good care of the area afterwards
In surgical tooth extraction, it will often be necessary to split the tooth or to mobilize the gums slightly away from the tooth in order to remove it.
If you mobilize the gums, it usually needs to be sewn afterwards.
If sewn, in the period until the threads are removed, rinse with chlorhexidine two to three times daily to keep the threads clean of coatings.
Surgical removal of tooth
In the case of surgical removal of a tooth, the tooth is often first attempted to be removed by surgical tooth extraction, which has proved to be impossible.
Alternatively, it has been assessed from the outset that a surgical procedure will be the only way to remove the tooth.
How does the procedure work?
The procedure is often slightly larger, and therefore sterile surgical coverage is often required. During the procedure, the gums will be mobilized, and it will often be necessary to remove some of the bone around the tooth in order to loosen it and get a better grip around the root.
The patient usually needs to be stitched with several stitches after such an operation, and the subsequent pain may be more pronounced.
